New Jersey couple killed in car accident in snowy conditions

Every person operating or riding in a motor vehicle assumes the inherent risk of injury or even death due to an accident. Such injuries can create significant emotional and financial distress for victims and their families as they attempt to pay medical bills and other expenses that result. As such, when a motor vehicle accident occurs, it is important for victims to determine fault and connect those actions with their injuries.

A New Jersey couple was killed when their car collided with a van. The man driving the vehicle lost control of the car, causing it to spin and go into the opposite lane. At that time, a van stuck the car.

The man's wife, who was a passenger in the car, was declared dead at the scene. The man was removed from the car and taken to a hospital. He was pronounced dead when he arrived there. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and was treated at the same hospital. Officials are currently investigating the accident. It was noted that weather may have been a factor in the accident. It was snowing and snow had also already accumulated in the area.

When a car accident occurs, liability for any possible claims is based on the legal theory of negligence. Everyone operating a motor vehicle is required to exercise reasonable care. If they fail to perform this duty and that failure causes injury to another they may be held liable for any damages that arise from the injuries.

Many factors are considered when determining which party was negligent including not signaling during a turn, failure to obey traffic signals and even disregarding weather conditions.

An auto accident can result in serious injuries and even death for the parties involved. The injuries, and the costs associated with them, can impose a significant burden for victims and their families. Thus, it is important that victims are aware of their rights to collect damages for their injuries and the proof required to do so.
